Greetings, Woodridge Families!

August 14, 2020

Hello Woodridge Families!
This is your principal Mrs. Newton welcoming you to the 20-21 school year!  As you know, we will be starting the school year Distance Learning.  In the spring, teachers were asked to respond to a crisis situation quickly without much expertise in teaching digitally.  They were also asked to review material that had been already taught.  This school year will be different.  Teachers have been learning themselves to make sure that they are able to give your child a high quality education virtually.  Students will be given new material and will receive grades for their class work as well as their participation and attendance.
Our first day of school is Tuesday, August 18th at 8:00 am.  That should be easy to remember since it is the same time we have always started school!  Please be watching for a communication from your child’s teacher on Monday, August 17th. This email will give you information on how to join your child’s google classroom and sign in to their Zoom Morning Meeting.  If you do not receive an email from your child’s teacher by 3:00 pm, please call the school office at 916-566-1650.  It is imperative that you have an up to date email on file at the school.  An email address will be the main way teachers will communicate important information to you this year.  Never before has the parent and teacher partnership been more important than it is this year.  We must work together and be in constant communication in order to give our children the best education possible.  In addition, if you have not picked up your child’s backpack and/or chrome book, please come by the school tomorrow, August 17th from 8-12 for the last distribution.
I have been an educator for 25 years, and I have never seen anything like this pandemic.  I am in awe at how we have all come together to support children during this crisis.  In addition, I am so grateful for the technology that we have so that we can continue to give our children a high quality education virtually.  25 years ago, this would have been impossible! I am looking forward to seeing students again in the coming months.  As for now, we must keep our students and staff healthy and safe. I look forward to seeing your students in the Zoom room!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Newton
